I defended my PhD thesis in 1999 (supervisor: Pierre Vervisch) at the CORIA lab. It was dedicated to spectroscopic diagnostics in high enthalpy media with two applications: the shock layer ahead of a stainless stell cylinder in a supersonic air flow and the boundary layer above a C/SiC tile in an expanded arcjet generated from carbon dioxide and nitrogen.

From 2001 to 2007, I was an assistant professor in mechanics at the University of Provence in Marseilles in the IUSTI lab. My activities were about the study of the non-equilibrium radiation and of the chemical kinetics behing strong shock waves obtained in a free-piston shock tune in planetary atmosphere mixtures (Earth, Mars, Venus, Titan). In the frame of those studies and along with Catherine Rond (now assitant professer in the University Paris 13), we carried out radiation measurement just before the successful entry of the European space probe Huygens in the atmosphere of Titan in January 2005.

Since September 2007, I am an assistant professor in energetics at the University of Rouen in the CORIA lab. I have been studying boundary layers above material samples in subsonic air and carbon dioxide plasmas. Those media are analyzed using optical techniques such as emission spectroscopy, laser-induced fluorescence and spontaneous Raman scattering.

From July 2008, I have been interested in striations in radio-frequency low-pressure plasmas along with Noémie Brémare, a master student of the University of Rouen. We highlighted still and moving structures depending on pressure in carbon dioxide plasmas, argon plasmas and krypton plasmas.

Most of my research activities relate to the problems posed by the entry of a hypersonic spacecraft in a planetary atmosphere. I also animate an international workshop of the European Space Agency that assembles researchers from Europe (ECP, IRS, DLR, EPFL, VKI), the United States (NASA), Russia (IPM, MIPT), Korea (KAIST) and Australia (University of Queensland).

Within the CORIA lab, I am a member of the PhD thesis monitoring council.

Moreover, I have been teaching in department of science and technology, medicine and humanities. Those lectures relate to heat transfer, thermodynamics, non-equilibrium statistical physics, and fluid mechanics as well as more applied subjects (plasma cutting, renewable energy, energy analysis) for students of bachelor and master degrees. From 2009, within the master of energy, fluids and environment (EFE), I give a lecture about stratospheric braking dedicated to physical and chemical issues occuring during an atmospheric entry. That teaching is an illustration of the courses of plasma physics given by Arnaud Bultel, Bruno Chéron and Ioan Schneider.
